You get what you pay for here, and it's actually a neat little novelty setup. Perfect for lowering a line off the side of a dock or into a creek. You can't really cast with it and don't try because you'll destroy the internals of the reel. Great for micro fishing.

Love these novelty items so much, I bought 3! 1 for each of the important men in my life, hubby, boss & FIL!! Couldn't say if they work, I don't think any of them have loaded them with line yet?

Great little gag gift. The pastor of our church loves to fish and was looking for a new rod and reel. I told him I would buy him one. When I gave this to him everyone got a great laugh out of it. Oh, and he did get a nice rod and reel besides this. We aren't that mean.

Believe it or not, this is actually a practical, useful piece of gear. The rod has great "bend ability" and the reel is smooth and sturdy. Of course, this is not the rig if you are deep sea fishing for Marlin, but great to have in your glove compartment if you want to toss a line in a creek or pond.

Don't get any idea, this isn't meant to fish with, and if you tried to it will not work very well, it's more of a novelty item, it could catch maybe baby fish but it would break easily. Its fun to play with though and people like it.

This product is quite the conversation piece. it's cute and it it really works. We took it on our boat and caught a couple fish. the size enables you to carry it anywhere, pocket, purse, bag... anywhere... you never know when your going to want to go fishing! great product

I purchased this for a christmas grab gift last year. My uncle, who is an avid fisher, ended up with it, and he told me that he has used it a few times over the summer. He was shocked at how low the price was for how well it works. Since it was such a hit last year, I'm purchasing it again this year.

I love the compactness of this pen rod! I have yet to actually use it, but I am a firm believer in the concept that you can catch a fish if you are a fisher, not necessarily because of the product or tools you use. Certainly, you won't use this to fish for large fish, but it is a convenient survival or fun compact tool to have going outdoors!
