The Perseus Pro IV pickleball paddle is the ultimate blend of innovation, control, and power. This next evolution of our beloved paddle shape now features patent-pending TechFlex Power (TFP) technology, resulting in improved precision and more confidence with every shot. The optimized weight distribution within the Perseus Pro IV reduces paddle fatigue and provides forgiveness on mishits – giving you more room to play your individual game.
The JOOLA Ben Johns Perseus Pro IV 16mm pickleball paddle is UPA-A pro Certified and USAP PBCoR .43 Certified.
I’ve been using the 16mm Perseus Pro IV for a few weeks, and the extra dwell time gives me strong drives from the baseline without sacrificing too much control. The paddle feels really solid on serves and overheads — plenty of pop when I need it. Definitely a premium build, and I can feel the difference compared to my older paddles.
As someone stepping up from beginner gear, the Pro IV is a noticeable upgrade. The 14mm version gives more maneuverability at the net, making it easier to volley and react quickly. While the price is steep, the performance makes it feel worth it on court.
Playing with the 16 mm variant, I appreciate the plush feel — the ball sinks just enough into the face to allow spin without making shots float. I find reset shots and transition zone play are more forgiving than my old paddle. The handle grip is comfortable even when I sweat; really solid overall.
Switched from 16mm to the 14mm version just to try more pop and speed. It’s definitely more responsive on quick flicks and hands battles at the kitchen. The tradeoff is I have to be more precise; lots of power means mistakes are punished.
Whenever I go for overheads or put-aways, this paddle delivers. The propulsion core really helps return energy — the 16mm especially gives me confidence that I’m not leaving out power. Only drawback is I sometimes overhit on shorter swings until I adjust.
I love how the carbon friction surface grabs the ball — topspin and slice feel very dialed in. My serves now curve better and passing shots have more bite. I do notice though that soft touch / dinks require a bit of practice to control since the paddle tends to “snap” more on aggressive shots.
Since it’s UPA-A and USAP certified, this paddle lets me stay legal for most tournaments. I like using it in competitive play because the balance of pop, spin, and stability gives me options. Dead spots are minimal and the sweet spot is “good enough” even off center.
First few sessions I struggled with overshooting or mis-aiming, especially from the kitchen line. But once I adapted my swing and relaxed on aggressive shots, the paddle rewarded me — power and control opened up. The break-in period wasn’t huge but noticeable.
If your style is attack from baseline, speed-ups, drives and you want a paddle that amplifies those, the Perseus Pro IV delivers. It demands a confident swing, though. It’s less ideal if you’re more defense or finesse based, but if you love being on offense, this paddle is a real weapon.
Miss a little on the edge? It still performs reasonably well thanks to the foam-edge and improved sweet spot design. Not perfect, but much better than past versions I’ve used. Helps me avoid unforced errors in fast exchanges.
Looks wise, this paddle is sleek — carbon fiber surface, good design, modern feel. Functionally, the tech-features like “TechFlex Power” show up in performance: weight distribution feels better, less fatigue after long rallies. Definitely a paddle that matches the price tag.
